P. Jacquesson (Paris, France)

Back

Two of the nicest of the French "dumpy" style telephones that I have seen, made by P.Jacquesson Paris France - in a lovely mottled brown Bakelite, and with the additional earpiece also in mottled brown. Rare phones from around 1924 that would have been challenging to mould in Bakelite - the body is one piece from the base to the top of the post where the cradle and switch hook are fitted. And in spite of its' age, still working perfectly.

This first one is a dial version

This second one is a non-dial (Common Battery/CB) version. I have added pictures of the body which clearly shows how complex the Bakelite mould would have to be to enable it to be 'cast' in one piece. A keen observer will see that the entire body from the base to the top of the pedestal has a slight taper, narrowing slightly toward the top, and in that way making it possible to extract the completed body from the mould.
