Alvin the Chipmunk Copyright 1984 Bagdasarian Productions. Licensed by Mode Pictures Inc., N.Y. N.Y. Measures 15 inches tall x 6-1/2 inches wide x 6 inches deep. Stickers on both sides of the base say 'Alvin & The Chipmunks'. The handset is part of Alvin's body and has a large yellow 'A' sticker on it. The handset has pushbuttons including Mute and Redial, and also has a Ringer on/off switch. There is also a tone/pulse dialing switch.It hangs up when the handset is put back into Alvin. Made in Hong Kong for Bagdasarian Productions.
Annie Made by Com-Vu Corporation and part of a series of 7 different characters. Made in Hong Kong in 1982. The push button dial is underneath the base and hangs up when sitting on the base. The phone is marked on the back "TRIB CO SYN INC. COLUMBIA PICTURES 1982". It is 10-1/2" tall and is a full figure of Little Orphan Annie and her dog Sandy.
Batman Forever Copyright 1995 DC Comics. Made in China for Micro Games of America and licensed by DC Comics. Model: BAT-8040. Produced coincident with the Batman Forever movie. Dial pad and hang up are on bottom of phone. It came in a clear fronted black box. Features tone/pulse switch, redial key, flash key, lighted dial pad, engine compartment flashes blue when phone rings. 11-3/4 inches long x 3-3/4 inches high x 3-1/2 inches wide.
Bear Carlton Model #7780. 12" tall Bear novelty telephone. Hard plastic bear and stand with a soft plastic bow tie. Push buttons on receiver with rotary sound.
Beetle Bailey One-piece phone made in Hong Kong in 1982 for Com-Vu Corporation. This is part of a series of 7 different character phones. Talk into the base and listen in the receiver (mop bucket) that Beetle Bailey holds in his left hand. The mop is in his right hand. The push button dial is underneath the base and hangs up when sitting on the base. The phone is 9-3/4 inches tall. Features touch-tone dialing.
Bozo the Clown Copyright 1988 TeleMania. Distributed by Kash'N Gold, Ltd. Made in Thailand. Model: Bozo Phone. It is 11-1/2 inches tall and the round base is 6 inches across. The back has a dial pad (red buttons) on a King of Hearts card. Comes with a 1 year limited warranty and an available 1 or 2 year extended warranty. Ringer can be set to either ring or laugh. Bozo's nose lights up when the phone rings. Tone/pulse & last-number redial switches. Requires 4 AA batteries. Bozo lifts off the base to answer the phone.

Talk into his foot and listen to his mouth.

Butterfly Phone Butterfly Phone manufactured by Ronsonic / RTC®. Features include Tone/Pulse switch, Last number redial, Reset button, and Electronic tone ringer with Hi-Lo-Off switch. Flashing colored lights on the wings are synchronized with the ringing signal to indicate an incoming phone call. Also, colored lights on the wings light up when the phone is in use. Buzz Lightyear Made in China in 1996 for Brooktel. Licensed by Lenbrook industries Ltd. Features a large Buzz Lightyear figure with glow in the dark accents and a retractable visor. Buzz is strapped to "The Big One" rocket and the rocket flame lights up when the phone rings! The phone has tone/pulse dialing switch, last-number redial key, flash feature, and is hearing aid compatible. 15 inches high x 12 inches wide x 9 inches deep.
Cabbage Patch Kids A Cabbage Patch Girl (blonde hair, pink dress and white tennis shoes) doll telephone. Made in Hong Kong for Coleco in 1984 and is marked Model 7911 on a white tag on the bottom. Features include touch tone dialing, mute key, last-number redial key, and in-use LED. Extra long cord. This phone is unique because the girl's arm is stationary and doesn't move when you hang up. The receiver has 'Coleco' inside the handle area and is unique to this phone, having a magnet in it that activates the hang-up mechanism inside the girl's arm. The phone is about 12 inches in height and the base is about 10 inches by 6 inches. On the back of the base is a Ringer on-off switch and the standard phone cord connector.
Charlie Tuna Starkist Charlie the Tuna Telephone. Stands a little over 10". Plastic. The telephone is one piece. You dial from the bottom. Sticker on the side says Star-Kist Foods, Inc. 1987. A label on the bottom has all the FCC numbers, etc. Features include tone/pulse dialing switch, ringer on/off switch. Made in Hong Kong.

101 Dalmations 101 Dalmations phone made by Lenbrook, model 101 DALMATION. It depicts one of Disney's 101 Dalmations with a red fire hydrant.
When the phone rings he barks, or you can switch it to a conventional ring, or to off. It has 12-number memory, an illuminated keypad in the fire hydrant, ringer control, redial, mute, and flash. Pulse/tone switch, Hearing-aid compatible. 12 inches tall.

Elvis Telephone Elvis Special Commemorative Edition Telephone.

When the phone rings it plays "Jailhouse Rock" or "Hound Dog" and his hips swivel in time with the music! You can also choose regular ringer. It has a tone/pulse switch, last number redial, mute button, and a demo button. Elvis is 10" tall, is dressed in real clothing, and is holding his guitar. It can be set to ring instead of playing music. Requires 3 "D" size batteries (not included). Measures 10.5" x 14.75" x 8.5". hearing aid compatible. FCC and ETL approved. Fido Fone A dog sitting on a basket with a bone across his feet. The bone is actually a telephone receiver. This phone is also a speakerphone. A pushbutton to the right of the dog is marked 'HandsFree On / Off' and enables the speakerphone. A volume control above the pushbutton dial controls speaker volume and the speaker is in the dog's back. A switch on the left of the dog controls ringer hi, lo, or bark. When it barks, the dogs mouth and eyes move. There is a mouth Movement Adjustment on the bottom. Another switch is marked 'Memory Store / Auto Dial'. It also has a pulse/tone switch on the bottom and a battery compartment for four penlight batteries and a 9-volt battery. A DC Adapter jack is also available. The dial has a memory button and a Redial button.

Garfield, Climbing Wall Tyco Model 1209. Manufactured by May Yung Enterprise Company in Hong Kong for Tyco Industries in the 1980s. It is about 12 inches tall and ahngs on the wall. Features pause, tone, mute, and last number redial keys. Head can be turned 360 degrees to position wanted.

Garfield, Sleeping Tyco industries Model 1207. Dated Sept. l986. Garfield's eyes open up when the receiver is lifted out of his back and they are closed when the phone is hung up. Made in Hong Kong. Measures 10-3/4 inches by 7 inches. The most common problem with this phone is that the black stripes easily wear off the receiver handle. Tone or pulse pushbutton operation. has a ringer on/off switch.
Gumby 1985 Gumby telephone, by LewCo. It measures 11 1/2 in. in length and has adjustable arms! It features pushbutton dial, last number redial, mute button and it plugs into a standard jack.
Kermit the Frog, sitting Copyright 1983 Henson Associates,Inc. made in Singapore by Henson for AT&T. Model number TEBF 8030. It is touch tone. Kermit is sitting in a chair leaning back with both feet on a footstool. One leg is sticking up in the air and holds the receiver. It is about 15 inches tall. These were available with or without a lamp attachment.
Kermit C/S Telephone Made in China for Telemania. Distributed by Kash N' Gold. KCL Technology Ltd. Kermit Collection Jim Henson Trademark and Logo. 12 1/2 inches tall. It looks like an old candlestick telephone with kermit holding the receiver. You talk into kermit's mouth and listen to the receiver. It has a real bell sound ringer, ringer on/off switch, last number redial and mute keys, and a tone/pulse switch. FCC and ETL approved. Model: Kermit Telephone.
Kiss Kiss Neon Telephone lights up and plays music. When the phone rings the lights blink on and off and it plays part of the song "I want to rock and roll all night and party everyday". Or it can be switched to just ring and not play music. It is tone/pulse switchable and has last number redial. FCC and ETL approved.
Little Sprout A Green Giant promotional item, this phone is marked 'The Pillsbury Co., 1984'. Little Sprout is two-tone green and stands on a rectangular base. The telephone receiver rests on the base and is held by his right arm. It is approximately 13" tall and 6" wide. The telephone has a touchtone pad, but dials like a pulse phone. Ringer on/off switch, last-number redial, mute key. Made in Hong Kong.
Marvin the Martian Toshiba Looney Toons Tronics(TM). Made in China by Toshiba for American Consumer products, Inc. It has tone/pulse dialing, last number redial, flash or mute key, in-use LED indicator, and ringer on/off switch. 8-1/2 inches tall. Introduced 1997.
Marilyn Monroe Marilyn Monroe Telephone, distributed by Telemania. A scale replica of Marilyn Monroe portraying one of her most memorable scenes from the movie "The Seven Year Itch." With an incoming call or with use of the demo button, Marilyn's dress flies up and in addition she sings "I want to be loved by you." Conventional ringer also. Year 2000
Mickey Mouse The original 1976 American Telecommunications Corporation 15" Mickey Mouse telephone with a rotary dial. Mickey is holding a yellow receiver. He is marked "Walt Disney Productions" on the rear of his red shorts. 15 inches tall. Ringer hi/low switch.

This telephone was later available with pushbuttons. It also was available with a single or double 3-way lamp attached to the back of the base and with white pleated lampshade(s). The lamp versions were used in Disney Hotels.

There were four characters produced using the same phone - Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Kermit the Frog, and Winnie the Pooh.

 

Mickey Mouse, Leaning AT&T Mickey Mouse Phone, Model # CS2881D109. It is about 14 inches high with a 10" X 9" base. It has a red (touch tone or pulse) AT&T receiver on one side and statue of Mickey on the other. Mickey marked "C The Walt Disney Company" on the back of his pants. Handset is marked ATT, has a ringer Off/Hi/Lo switch and a three postion volume switch. Dial, Tone and DP selection, Mute, lighted dial, and last number redial. Made in China.
Opus the Penguin 1987 Opus (from Bloom County)(From the Newspaper Comic Strip "Doonesbury") penguin figure telephone. Marked 1987 Washington Post Writers Group, Made in Hong Kong or China, sold by Tyco. Pulse/tone switch, mute, redial. Opus' head swivels when you pick up the receiver. Stands 14" Tall.
Pillsbury Doughboy Pillsbury Doughboy Telephone. 14-1/2" tall. On the bottom it is marked 'The Pillsbury Company 1984'.
Pizza Inn Pizzaman The 1980s pizza man phone is 11" tall and has a 4-3/4" diameter base. He is dressed in a red pointed hat, red and white checkered shirt with a red bolero jacket and matching scarf, white apron and black slacks. He has black hair, black eyes, black mustache and a big smile. His hands and arms are out and upward because he is tossing a pizza crust. Across the front of the base in red letters it reads 'Pizza inn'. You listen to pizza man's shoulder and speak into just under his left foot. Has plug-in cord. Push buttons are on the bottom. Features pulse/tone dialing, mute button, and last-number redial. Made in Taiwan.
Popeye Marketed by Com-Vu Corporation, NY, made in Hong Kong, and copyrighted by K.F.S. 1982. Hand-painted plastic touch-tone telephone in the shape of Popeye sitting on his duffel bag and holding a can of spinach, measuring 9-3/4" tall. Shown with original box. You speak into the base and listen to the spinach can.
Popeye Rare 1980s phone depicting Popeye sitting, holding the phone receiver, and with Sweet pea sitting on the front edge of the base. Made by Imperial, but touchpad looks like those on American Telecommunications Snoopy, Kermit, and Pooh phones.
R2-D2 Telemania - distributed by Kash N Gold,Inc. R2D2 Phone, available in September 1997. This phone is a replica of the classic droid from the "Star Wars" trilogy. R2D2 appears in his usual brilliant white, blue, and silver finish with strong attention to detail. When the phone rings, R2-D2 comes to life - his head rotates, lights blink and he makes realistic R2-D2 sounds. His left "arm" serves as the handset, while his "shoulder" serves as the phone's cradle. R2D2's "feet" are the base, which are connected to his body. It has a switchable ringer (regular and R2-D2 sound effects), FCC and ETL approved. pulse/tone switchable, redial button and is fully modular. Requires four 'D' batteries (not included).
Raid Bug
Robo Force A 12" tall phone from the Robo Force line of toys. Model 7760, made in Hong Kong in 1984 by Carlton. It emits a high pitched sound when it rings. This is MAX STEELE the warrior robot. It has a pushbutton telephone receiver in it's chest. Features include touch-tone dialing, mute key, last-number redial, ringer on/off switch, in-use LED on handset. Great graphics on the box and as it says 'The phone that's as advanced as tomorrow', now that's technology!
Rolling Stones Tongue This is a rare telephone and is featured on the cover of the Schiffer book about novelty telephones. The tongue lifts out of the mouth and has the telephone buttons on the back of it. Functions include mute, redial, and a ringer on/off switch. It can set on a table but has slots to allow it to be mounted on a wall and it looks best hung. It was made in 1983 by Musidor in Hong Kong, exclusively for Tristar International Ltd.
Snoopy and Woodstock On the bottom of the phone it says "The Snoopy and Woodstock Phone" American Telecommunications Corporation, El Monte Calif. model number ubm8010. It's dated 1976. It also has the serial number and FCC regulations number. About 14 inches tall and 9 inches wide. It has a plastic base w/woodgrain around the bottom of the base. The top of the base is red plastic. This came with either a touch-tone key pad or a dial. Snoopy stands behind the dial with his right arm extended holding the yellow receiver. His left arm is propped on his hip. Woodstock stands directly below Snoopy's left arm. Snoopy's head can turn from side to side. It has a high/low ringer control. This is one of four similar ATC character phones distributed by the Bell system with permission of Disney (Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Kermit the Frog, and Winnie the Pooh).
Snoopy, wall phone This is a 1980s one-piece pushbutton phone that came with a hanger to hang it on a wall. It can also be used on a flat surface. There is a button on Snoopy's back that hangs it up when depressed. Snoopy is 7 ½" long and 5" tall and is white with black ears,eyes,and nose. He has a red collar and a red phone cord. On the ear speaker it says:1958,1966 United Syndicate Inc. Deterimed Productions Inc. It has push buttons but dials with rotary pulses rather than tones. Features last-number redial, mute.
Snoopy Joe Cool Made 1991-1993 by Seika in China. Features tone/pulse switch, in-use LED indicator, electronic hold, Line flash, electronic ringer on/off switch, silicone rubber keys, last-number redial, grayish-beige base with Snoopy leaning against a red brick wall and Woodstock standing on the wall with sunglasses on and a blue sweater. There is a place on the wall for pencils. Snoopy is wearing sunglasses with a sweater that says JOE COOL. Model SLK-291.
Spiderman, on roof 1984 SpiderMan Telephone made by MCG. Large yellow base that looks like a roof with a red brick chimney that a fully painted 12" rubber Spiderman is crawling down! A deep blue phone receiver is to the side of Spidey and the chimney. At the top of the receiver is a decal stating "The Amazing Spiderman." Another decal in the middle of the receiver is a spider emblem. Lift the receiver and you will see a decal of Spidey swinging through the air. Roof and Chimney are made of plastic and Spidey is made of rubber. Base measures 7' x 8-1/2" and phone is 10-1/4" tall. Base reads "Spider Man TM © 1984 MCG Made in Hong Kong". Features touch-tone dialing, mute key, ringer on/off switch, last-number redial.
Spiderman Measures 9 1/2" high by 9 1/2" wide by 8 1/2" deep. Copyright 1994 Marvel Comics and made in Hong Kong by Rec. Sound. It has a Tone/Pulse switch, in-use LED Indicator, On/Off Button, Mute, Redial, Flash, Ringer On/Off. SPIDER-MAN is kneeling beside a spider web which holds the phone. It is gray. SPIDER-MAN has blue tights with a red top with spider webs on it. Red spider web shoes. Phone is Blue and red with yellow push buttons. On back of receiver is a big black spider. Front of receiver has a picture of SPIDER-MAN. Model SST-200.
Sports Illustrated Sneakerphone Made in China for Sports Illustrated. This phone was a premium when you subscribed to Sports Illustrated magazine. It looks and feels like a real sneaker or white running shoe. It is a bit over 10 1/2" long and has phone switch-off. You speak and listen through the bottom of the shoe.
Stanley Tape Measure Telephone that looks exactly like a 30 foot Stanley tape measure. The unit splits open down the middle and flips into a pushbutton telephone! Marked on back "Under authorization of the Stanley Works Model S33-430".
Star Trek Enterprise 1993 Telemania limited edition. A replica of the USS Enterprise is mounted on a black base shaped as the V insignia. Black dialing push buttons with white numerals are in the base. The handset is shaped as half of the ship: you pick it up and the mouthpiece is at the rear and the receiver is the front round part of the ship. When you pick up the handset, the two engines are still attached to the ship. You can set the ringer to ring or to the red alert sound you hear when the Enterprise is being attacked. The two red warp lights in front of the engines flash when the phone rings. The ship measures 11" and the base 10-1/2". The height to the highest point of the ship is about 7-3/4". it is inscribed with William Shatner's autograph. Phone features include regular ringer option, redial and mute functions, pulse/tone switchable, hearing aid compatible. Numbered certificate of historical data included. FCC and ETL approved. Made in China. Distributed by Kash 'N Gold. Licensed by Paramount Pictures.
Superman

 

Made in 1979 in China by A.T.E., and licensed by DC Comics. He is about 18" tall. Very difficult to find! This push button phone has SUPERMAN standing on a 8 inch by 9 inch white telephone base in front of a gray skyscraper. His red hard plastic cape extends down to base and the reciever hangs up vertically in the back of the cape. This same phone was also made in a rotary dial version.

Superman Model 41 'Superman', manufactured by MCC (MicroCommunications Corp.) in 1978. MCC is a subsidiary of MicroSemiconductor Corp of Santa Ana, California. Simulated walnut plastic base houses the telephone. Available in tone or pulse dialing versions. Came optionally with last-number redial, hold, toll restrict, 10-number memory, or speaker phone option.
Superman figure is about 15" ht, hand painted poly resin, cloth cape with "S" on back. Micro Communications was shut down in 1978 by DC Comics for trademark violations. The phones, statuettes and molds were suppose to have been destroyed, but were not.
Superman Similar to the MCC Superman phone but with a red base, the receiver sets horizontally behind superman in this 1978 rotary-dial version. Superman had a large red cloth cape. About 300 were made in China for Allied Communications before production was stopped due to trademark violations.
Swatch
Tasmanian Devil Taz moves wildly, growls and speaks when the phone rings. Handset cradles in Taz's mouth. The Tazmanian Devil Phone features: Demonstration button to see the show, Last number Redial, Switchable ringer, Lights flash with incoming calls, Tone / Pulse switchable, Volume control, Hearing Aid Compatible, ETL listed and FCC approved. Requires 4 "C" batteries (not included). Officially licensed by Warner Brothers Consumer Products.

Winnie the Pooh Dated 1976 by American Telecommunications Corporation. It stands 14 inches tall. This touchtone phone has a red and brown plastic base with Winnie holding a brown receiver in his right hand and touching a blue butterfly with his left hand. The soft rubber butterfly is often missing on this phone since it is very fragile. This phone is listed on page 94 of Carol Smith's Winnie The Pooh Collectables II book. Features include touch-tone dialing and hi/low ringer switch. This phone was also available in a rotary-dial version and/or with a lamp.
X-Men Has tone/pulse,switchable/led indicator light, on/off button, mute, redial/ flash/ringer on/off. xwt-100 on box.
Frog Frog flip phone, model FF-518 Crusader. Made in Taiwan. Eyes light up when in use and it ribbits when you get a call. To answer it you just pick it up and the bottom pops open. These are available in red, yellow, or green.
