Telegrafverket

Telegrafverket was awarded a permit to provide Subscriber Services in 1879 and at that time they used Ericsson equipment. In the 1890's they started their own telephone manufacture and this telephone would have been made in the 1930's.

Most of the Swedish telephones in this collection were made by LM Ericsson of course, but this particular phone is from another Swedish manufacturer - Telegrafverket. This is a most unusual "Partner" phone with two dials and that would have been located in the centre of a partner desk and shared by two employees. Sweden may well have been the origin of the partner phone when LM Ericsson in the 1890's designed and manufactured the twin handled magneto phones in the Skeleton and Tunnan styles.
